Please read our terms and conditions carefully to understand your policy coverage and obligations.

Introduction

These terms and conditions govern your funeral policy with Ditswako Funeral Parlour, underwritten by Rand Mutual Admin Services (Pty) Ltd (RMA), an authorised Financial Services Provider (FSP No. 46113). By purchasing this policy, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

Policy Coverage

Age Requirements

  • Minimum Entry Age for Principal Members: 18 years
  • Maximum Entry Age for Principal Members: 84 years
  • No cessation age - Principal Members are covered until death
  • Extended Family (Parents/Grandparents): Must be younger than 84 years at policy start
  • Extended Family (Others): Must be younger than 64 years at policy start

Coverage Options

  • Member Only Plans: Individual coverage
  • Family Plans: Main member, spouse, and children
  • Member Plus Plans: Extended family coverage (5, 7, or 9 members)
  • Coverage amounts: R10,000, R15,000, R20,000, or R30,000

Children's Benefits

Benefits vary by age group:

  • Stillbirth to 11 months: R1,250 - R3,750
  • 1 to 5 years: R2,500 - R7,500
  • 6 to 13 years: R5,000 - R15,000
  • 14 to 21 years: R10,000 - R30,000

*2 stillbirths are covered for the duration of the policy

Waiting Periods
  • Accidental Death: No waiting period. Claims paid immediately provided the policy is in force and the first premium has been received.
  • Natural Death: 6-month waiting period from policy commencement date.
  • Suicide: 12-month waiting period from policy commencement date.
Exclusions

Benefits will not be paid if death is directly or indirectly caused by or attributable to:

  • Terrorism or war (whether declared or not)
  • Radioactive contamination, whether directly or indirectly
  • Death as a result of illegal activities
  • Death due to suicide during the first 12 months after cover commenced for that individual
  • Divorced spouses at inception are not covered, and cover ceases immediately upon divorce
Premium Payments

Payment Methods

Funeral cover rates include the following payment facilities:

  • Debit Order
  • EasyPay outlets
  • Subscription Collection

Grace Period

  • After the first premium is paid, a grace period of 1 month is allowed for future premiums
  • The plan remains in force during the grace period
  • If arrear premium and the next month's premium are not paid by the end of the second month, the plan will lapse

Lapse and Reinstatement

  • Plan lapses if two consecutive premiums are missed (including grace period)
  • Plan can only be reinstated two months after lapse
  • Unexpired waiting periods will apply to Extended Members upon reinstatement
Policy Management

Cooling-off Period

  • 31-day cooling-off period from when RMA receives the completed application
  • Policy can be cancelled with full refund (less risk cover or administration costs)
  • Written notification required to RMA
  • No death or claim must have occurred during this period

Cancellation

  • After the cooling-off period, both policyholder and RMA can cancel
  • 1 month's written notice required
  • No refund of premiums after cooling-off period

Plan Review

  • Rates are not guaranteed for any term
  • RMA reserves the right to review plans annually or when claims ratios deteriorate
  • 3 months' notice given for premium changes
  • Options: Accept new rates, request benefit reduction, or cancel policy
Additional Provisions

Continuation Option

If a Principal Member ceases to be a member of an existing fund, they have 30 days to apply for a similar individual funeral policy. Unexpired waiting periods for natural death will apply.

Surrender Values

There are no surrender values under this plan. Benefits may not be ceded or pledged, and no loans are available.

Fraudulent Claims

If any fraudulent claim is made, RMA will not be obligated to pay the claim and may cancel the policy with immediate effect.

Dissolution

Upon plan dissolution, all RMA liabilities cease from the day of the last premium received or dissolution date, whichever is later.

Privacy Policy

We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Your information will only be used for policy administration, claims processing, and communication regarding your policy.

We will not share your personal information with third parties except as required for policy administration or as required by law.
